Volunteer Programs at the grand

The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts offers a comprehensive Volunteer Program designed to provide opportunities for you to be a part of our creative team working in the arts and entertainment industry. There are four areas of volunteering opportunities:

Ushers support our front of house operations in Patron Services and are responsible for providing a high level of customer service. Duties include greeting patrons, taking tickets, seating direction, and distributing programs during performances of all kinds.

Docents support the Exhibitions Program working in the art galleries during public hours and special events including opening receptions, gallery talks and workshops. If you have a strong interest in and knowledge of contemporary visual art, or are looking for practical experience in the operations of an artspace, this is a great opportunity for you.

Tour Guides

Tour Guides lead tours and educate the public about the Center’s vibrant history, professional amenities and programming in order to facilitate specialized requests. Tour groups include classes, reunions, business professionals and arts patrons.

Internship opportunities are available for the Arts Education, Exhibitions, and Presenting Programs. Areas of training include: Operations, Community Outreach, Public Relations, Promotions, Research, Development and Events. Please contact your sponsor (high school, college, university, employer, etc.) to explore these types of opportunities. Internships are managed by Human Resources in collaboration with the Cultural Arts Division.

We offer training and Staff support to assist you in helping our patrons. Applications for these positions are available at the Box Office or can be downloaded.
