A concert of the best loved pop songs of all time

There will be a show tonight

Stroll Down Penny Lane is a live performance with beautiful accompanying films of the music of the most iconic songwriter of our age: Paul McCartney. The show includes songs spanning McCartney’s career – from early influences, to the Beatles, through the Wings period, and beyond. All performed by some of the Bay Area’s most sought-after career musicians. You’ll also hear songs that have never been performed in concert – anywhere, by anyone!

A Long and Winding Road

Live, in concert, experience McCartney’s music and influences, from early rock and roll – like Little Richard – until now, spanning sixty years of music. Explore the ballads – a form McCartney adopted when he was a teenager. He became its acknowledged master – no one else in the world can compare.

I’ve Got a Feeling

Delve deep into the music. See the origin of a song and the musical devices that McCartney used to move us so deeply. The collaboration that led to the creation of a song. The times and history the music is embedded in.

Penny Lane

Penny Lane is one of several Liverpool streets that meet at the Penny Lane bus terminus. Any time Paul and John traveled by bus to visit one another, they would change buses there!

QUIET RIOT is a rock & roll phenomenon. Famously described as the first heavy metal band to top the pop chart at #1 on Billboard magazine, the Los Angeles quartet became an overnight sensation thanks to their monster 1983 smash album “Metal Health”.

QUIET RIOT first signed a record deal with Pasha records in the dawn of the 80’s at a time when radio was dominated by the “new wave” sound. Their hard driving pop metal sound was deemed “out” by record labels so the debut album “Metal Health” was against the grain. Driven by the irresistible double whammy of the rendition of the old Slade chestnut “Cum on Feel the Noize,” and their original song “Metal Health” (Bang your head) the album stormed up the U.S. charts, duly reaching the number one spot and going platinum five times over in the process. Against all odds it jumped over Michael Jackson’s “Thriller and “Synchronicity” by The Police to land in the number one slot on the Billboard album chart.

This opened the door for the other Sunset Strip “Hair Metal” bands to get their record deals and kicked off the craze that dominated MTV and radio in the 80’s.

The sales of the “Metal Health” album have now well exceeded the 10 million mark worldwide. Quiet Riot went on to have other hits and over a dozen albums and still plays live with a line up consisting of Rudy Sarzo, Alex Grossi, Jizzy Pearl and Johnny Kelly.

• Over 15 Million Records Sold Worldwide
• METAL HEALTH – The First Heavy Metal Album in History to go to NUMBER 1 on the BILLBOARD TOP 200 Chart
• Over 2.8 Million Monthly SPOTIFY Listeners
• Over One Million Social Media Followers
• The Critically Acclaimed QUIET RIOT Documentary “Well Now You’re Here, There’s No Way Back” recommended by ROLLING STONE and spent 2 years in rotation on SHOWTIME

Performing the Hits:
• CUM ON FEEL THE NOIZE
• BANG YOUR HEAD (METAL HEALTH)
• MAMA WEER ALL CRAZEE NOW
• SLICK BLACK CADILLAC
• THE WILD AND THE YOUNG & MORE…

Raised in a home where his father sang and his two sisters spun everything from Motown to West Coast harmonies, his upbringing was a constant melody.

The gospel and bluegrass influence of Lynchburg’s unique geography further shaped his sound, while artists like Bruce Hornsby, the Statler Brothers, Billy Joel, Elton John, and Lionel Richie sculpted his melodic sensibilities. A true fan of rock legends like Queen, Boston, and David Bowie, Vassar’s eclectic roots would lay the foundation for his remarkable career.

Though he started on guitar, Vassar soon found his true voice at the piano. His deep connection to piano-driven storytelling and intricate melodies was immediate, despite lacking classical training. With tireless practice and an undeniable songwriting gift, he crafted a sound that blended heartfelt lyrics with irresistible hooks — appealing to fans across various genres.

Now, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his breakout hit “Just Another Day in Paradise,” the piano-pounding powerhouse is embarking on his “25 Years of Paradise” Tour. This celebration of his impact on country music promises to energize audiences from coast to coast. His show, which includes both timeless hits and covers of musical icons like Billy Joel and Elton John, brings a new life to his catalog, with nightly changes in the setlist. “It’s amazing to see people singing along who weren’t even born when the songs came out,” he says with wonder.

Over 25 years, Vassar has racked up chart-topping hits and numerous accolades, including performances in Europe, Australia, and the White House, as well as memorable moments with country legends like Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson. But it’s the connection he builds with fans through live performances that remains
the heart of his career. “When I go on stage, the world fades away, and it’s just about having fun and connecting with the fans,” he shares.

A life-altering heart attack in 2023 that nearly claimed his life reshaped Vassar’s outlook. “You can’t outrun your genetics, but you can take care of yourself,” he reflects. His recovery has prompted a shift toward a calmer, more grateful life. “I’m way calmer now than I used to be. I’ve learned to enjoy the moment,” he says, now embracing life with renewed perspective.

A prolific talent in Nashville, Vassar’s songwriting career blossomed in the mid-‘90s. He secured a publishing contract with EMI and penned hits for country stars like
Collin Raye (“Little Red Rodeo”), Alan Jackson (“Right on the Money”), Tim McGraw (“My Next Thirty Years,” “For a Little While”), Jo Dee Messina (“Bye Bye,” “Alright”), and Blackhawk (“Postmarked Birmingham”). By 1998, Vassar had signed a record deal with Arista and was honored as ASCAP’s Country Songwriter of the Year in both 1999 and 2001.

With nine albums to his name, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year awards, and recognition as ACM’s Top New Male Vocalist, Vassar’s reign of chart-topping singles includes 10 No.1 hits and 27 Top 40 tracks. Standout songs like “Carlene,” “Six-Pack Summer,” and the enduring “Just Another Day in Paradise” showcase his signature style. His songwriting, whether penned for himself or others, is deeply rooted in authenticity. The timeless connection in songs like “American Child” and “My Next Thirty Years” — written in less than 20 minutes on his 30th birthday — exemplifies his ability to craft stories that resonate. “If you can write a cool lyric and pair it with a singable melody, that’s what elevates a song,” he notes.

Looking to 2025, Vassar plans to release new music and covers in support of his upcoming tour, as well as mentor emerging songwriters. He’s passionate about giving back to the community that helped launch his career. As he reflects on his journey, his focus remains clear: creating music that moves people. “If a song sparks a reaction, that’s all you’re looking for,” Vassar concludes. “I just want to keep doing what I love, enjoying the ride, and leaving behind songs that people can hold onto.”

With a career built on resilience and an unwavering commitment to storytelling, Phil Vassar continues to inspire both fans and peers, proving that great songs endure across generations.

Mariachi Los Camperos: Fiesta Navidad

Seating Chart – Madame Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis Theatre (EK Theatre)

This popular festive and joyous holiday performance, celebrates and honors the unique cultural traditions of Mexico. Mariachi Los Camperos is led by Jesus “Chuy” Guzman and the ensemble is considered one of the finest in the world. The ensemble will bring the pageantry and excitement of Mexican holiday customs to life, beginning with a re-enactment of La Posada. An abundance of music and dance with traditional ballads, as well as, sing-along holiday favorites, makes this a perfect holiday show for the whole family.

Los Angeles–based Mariachi Los Camperos’ abundant accolades, including multiple Grammy® awards and nominations and highly praised performances on premier concert stages such as Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Getty Center, can easily obscure the fact that its leaders come from humble roots, deep within a mariachi tradition shaped by family and community. The group’s founder, Nati Cano, was a third-generation mariachi musician from the small town of Ahuisculco in the west Mexican state of Jalisco. From 1961 to his death in 2014, he lived his dream, forging his own group from his artistic vision and determination. Over his musical career, he challenged the attitudes that, during his youth in Mexico, led formally trained musical peers to look down on his beloved rural and working-class music. In the United States, he worked against class and racial prejudice that relegated Mexicans and their music to second-class status. In the end, he succeeded both socially and artistically, as borne out by the group’s and his own many honors and performances in prestigious venues across the United States and Mexico.

In the words of Jesús “Chuy” Guzmán, his disciple and successor as Camperos leader, “He wanted to have a mariachi that would have dignity, that would have heart, that would have soul, and he made Los Camperos.”

Today, Chuy Guzmán leads the Camperos legacy, providing the vision for its sound and repertoire. He continues Cano’s legacy of teaching the tradition throughout the United States and parts of Latin America. Chuy Guzmán is living his dream, and he is dreaming ever bigger. Looking back on his career, he says, “I’m not going to tell you that the work was easy, but… I feel good about what has happened in my life, in my path as a musician.” Looking ahead, he adds, “There’s still a lot to do… My dream will come to an end when I am gone.”
