WAR, one of music’s defining and most enduring soul/funk groups, was founded in Long Beach, California, in 1962. In 1970, producer Jerry Goldstein united the seven-piece band with former Animals lead singer Eric Burdon; the alliance produced the No. 1 worldwide hit “Spill the Wine.” Stepping out on their own in 1971, they launched a fruitful career with a dynamic sound that fused R&B, rock, Latin music, jazz, and blues. In 1973, their smash album The World is a Ghetto vaulted to No. 1 on Billboard’s pop and R&B charts behind the crossover success of two top-10 singles, the album’s socially conscious title song and its rollicking follow-up “The Cisco Kid.” Over a long and glittering career, WAR has rung up more than 20 multi-platinum, platinum and gold albums and singles. This year, fronted by co-founding member Lonnie Jordan, the group will celebrate 50 years of 1973’s #1 Billboard top-selling album, The World is a Ghetto, with a 50-date summer tour, remixes, new releases and more.

Headliner

Larry “Bubbles” Brown came up in the 80s SF comedy boom, multiple appearances on
Letterman, HBO, MTV, appeared in the movie Kiterunner, opening act for Dana Carvey and Rob Schneider

Having grown up in Ohio, he moved to California in his early 20’s, seeking high rents and traffic.
He spent two years working as a traffic reporter on Live l05 morning show with Alex Bennett. Best job, worst hours.

He appears in clubs mainly in California and Las Vegas because flying terrifies him even though he was a certified glider pilot before stand up.

Featuring

Steve Ausburne

Steve Ausburne’s comedy career started with MC/Host work for friends with bands. His first attempt at actual stand up ended with a lifetime ban from a church in Grant’s Pass, Oregon.

Buoyed by that successful start, Steve has since embraced the stage as a place to present a spoken word memoir of all the embarrassing life moments that lurk in a place that only stand up or therapy sessions can reveal.

Also, he is allergic to cats.

Hosted by

The 2x Latin GRAMMY®-nominated band has issued five chart-topping albums and has performed all across the North American continent paving the way for a new generation of mariachi musicians . Nuestra Herencia , their 2017 debut album, topped the Latin streaming charts and earned the band their first Latin GRAMMY®-nomination for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album . 2018’s Herencia de la Tierra Mía and the two-volume series, Esencia and Esencia, Vol. 2 issued in 2019 and 2020, respectively, charted atop all major streaming platforms and industry charts. In 2022, Herederos appeared as the band were performing a wildly successful North American tour. Herederos received a 2023 Latin GRAMMY® nomination for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album .
