Mixed eMotion Theatrix (MeMT) combines music, dance, theater, and multi-media to create hybrid performance experiences in live theater and online content. The company is dedicated to telling stories of the human condition through the use of folk tales, myths, classic literature, new histories and biographies while always affirming equality and inclusion at every level of production. These stories are presented through contemporary dance, opera, theater, film or a mix of many performance forms. All productions share a strong use of music and storytelling to inform and enlighten the contemporary audience. Particularly in live work, MeMT strives for the audience to share a collective sense of community through each experience. It is the goal of the company to create performances both live and digital that generate wonderment, musicality and the rush of human motion and emotion.
The Gatsby Redux is a full length, site-specific production inspired by The Great Gatsby. The production takes the audience into the zany 1920’s and the romance of Gatsby’s world but also tackles themes from the novel: Class, Power, the American Dream, and the Illusiveness of Love. This is a gorgeous and evocative dance event that is site specific. Audience members are encouraged to wear white and become part of the immersive 1920’s event!
**This is a moving performance that will begin approximately two blocks outside the Grand and be choreographed to finish on the Grand’s main stage. Walking will be involved and at times on pavement, grass and stairs. Comfortable shoes are encouraged. For questions regarding accessibility, call the Box Office at 209.831.6858
